What is the Bark Park?

The Bark Park is an environment where dogs are dropped off for the day to play with other dogs in a fun, safe, well-supervised, and clean environment. Bark Park at Dapper Dog has many benefits including:

◦ Provides regular exercise to maintain a healthy weight

◦ Relieves boredom, separation anxiety, and destructive behavior at home

◦ Improves socialization with dogs and people

◦ Enhances quality of life

What do the dogs do all day?

The dogs are placed in indoor / outdoor play areas where they can socialize and play with other dogs. They are separated by size, temperament, and activity level. If a dog is tired, they can take a nap in one of our spacious nap areas. Overnight guests spend an hour and a half in their lodging for morning and evening meals in addition to taking a short nap in the middle of the day.

Do you walk the dogs?

Dapper Dog provides all-day play, so taking a walk will be the last thought on their mind. Romping around with their friends all day provides them all the exercise they need for the day. However, guests staying in our Private Suites will have potty breaks and personal playtime in their own supervised play yard.

Do you provide outdoor play areas?

Yes. We have both indoor and outdoor play areas.

What makes you different from a traditional kennel?

Bark Park Play and Stay at Dapper Dog provides all-day play with other dogs so your dog has lots of fun and gets a lot of exercise during the day. Guests staying in Private Suites also get one on one attention and their very own playtime. Different from a traditional kennel with indoor/outdoor runs and minimal interaction.

How do you justify your prices?

Bark Park at Dapper Dog provides a fun, social environment for our dogs, and safety is our main priority. We have a stringent dog-to-staff member policy that ensures the safety of the dogs play time and is included in the price of our Bark Park Play and Stay boarding rate; in our Private Suites you can choose to add Bark Park as much or as little as you would like if your for a luxury stay. Guests must meet qualifications for Bark Park and our pricing is all-inclusive. We will feed your own food at no extra charge, give them their medication, and provide nighttime treats at no added costs.

Is there a discount for multiple dogs?

Most of our locations offer multiple dog discounts if the dogs are able to share their Suite. There is no multiple discount for our Bark Park Play and Stay.

Do you offer a discount for extended stays?

Guests staying over 10 days will get a discounted rate. Whether it is day 1 or day 20 for your dog, they will get the same love and attention from our staff.

Can you provide my dog his/her medications? Is there a charge?

We will provide your dog’s medications at no extra charge. For your pet’s safety, medication must be in the original bottle and the prescription must be current.

Can I take a tour?

Absolutely! In fact, we encourage it. Stop by Dapper Dog anytime during business hours and ask for a tour. No appointment is needed to tour our facilities.

Can any dog come in for dog day care or boarding?

Bark Park and Bark Park Play and Stay both have an all-day play environment, so dogs must be able to play safely in a large group. Every dog must first complete an interview process so we can see how they interact with other dogs. They must be over four months old, be spayed or neutered if they are over 6 months old, and be current on their Rabies, 6 month Bordetella (for canine cough), and Distemper vaccinations. We highly recommend they be vaccinated for Canine Influenza as it has presented in the Midwest and is highly contagious; however it is not required by the Department of Agriculture at this time. They must be in good health, flea/tick free, friendly to all dogs, and generally love to play.

What is the Camper Evaluation?

We built our business and our foundation on improving the lives of our furry friends. When creating policies for our Bark Park, we first and foremost consider the safety, health and happiness of our Bark Parkers, and second, the wishes of our human clients. Our strict policies are a key reason customers are so loyal.

We have a very stringent application and interview process for our Bark Parkers – all dogs must pass this before entering our group play environments. Our Bark Rangers go through extensive training in dog behavior, play yard monitoring techniques, and evaluating dogs based on capabilities to adapt and enjoy our open-play environments.

We work with Defiant Dog Training and Rehabilitation in dog behavior to create policies designed to evaluate each dog on an individual basis. Our Bark Rangers are continuously educated to learn the best techniques on evaluating and monitoring dogs at Camp. They are taught to evaluate dogs using some of the following techniques:

  • Hands-on meet-and-greet to evaluate dog’s response to physical touch
  • One-on-one introduction with other regular Park Players
  • Slow introduction into open-play environment
  • Ongoing Park Player evaluation during every visit to Camp

Please note: not every Bark Park hopeful will qualify right away, do not be discouraged! Defiant Dog Training and Rehabilitation can work with your pet and help them overcome many social issues they may be facing.
